Courses
The scientific and professional advanced teaching is based on lectures and
practical courses. These last from one to three days and are aimed at newly graduated MD or PhD,
as well as to Physicians, as refresher courses.
Seminars and workshops
(a) “Lezioni Magistrali”: twice yearly, one in basic research and
one on clinical research, each held by eminent scientists.
(b) Formal seminars: one per month throughout the year, divided among basic
and clinical research, held by external invited speakers.
(c) Progress reports held by members of the Institute, once a week for 48 weeks
of the year.
(d) One or more international Workshops per year, again divided equally between
basic and clinical research. These workshops are usually organised within the framework
program of the European Molecular Biology Organization (EMBO).
IRCC International Cancer Research Training Program
This scheme employs scientists of all nationalities to improve
scientific exchange between the Institute’s researchers and colleagues
who have matured qualifying experience in foreign institutions. The research
field is at in the interface between molecular biology and medicine,
referring in particular to today’s problems in molecular oncology.
The Marie Curie European Training Center
The European Commission has recognized IRCC as a qualified center for training
young researchers in the experimental medical science field. Within the framework
of the program, IRCC employs in rotation graduate students from member states
for periods varying from six months to two years in the research laboratories.
PhD Program
The Institute offers three PhD programs under an agreement with the University
of Torino:
(a) PhD in Cell Sciences and Technology,
(b) PhD
in Complex Systems and Post Genomic Biology,
(c) PhD in Human Oncology.
The first, a four-year course, is aimed at young graduates in Medicine, Biological
Sciences, Biotechnology, Chemistry, Pharmacology and Pharmacological Chemistry
and Technology. It is aimed at training basic researchers in the medical and
Biological Science fields.
The second is a four-year course, aimed at training graduates in the medical,
life sciences mathematics and physics fields. The third, a three-year course,
is for medics and Biological Science graduates and mainly aimed at training
clinical researchers. All programs are available for both Italian and foreign
students. Fellowships are provided under competitive basis.
