The Department of Molecular Oncology is seeking enthusiastic and motivated scientists to join innovative gene projects studying the plexin gene family (encoding semaphorin receptors). Human plexins were identified by this group as homologues to scatter factor receptors tyrosine kinases (encoded by Met-like oncogenes). The biological function(s) of plexins and semaphorins are largely unknown; studies on their involvements in cell-cell repulsion in normal development and cancer progression are underway. Postdoctoral positions are available for applicants
interested in the biochemical characterization of these proteins and
of their signal transduction pathways, and in the study of their functional
role in normal and malignant cells. Future Prior experience in molecular biology, mammalian cells culture and basic protein chemistry is required. Working experience using animal models, such as transgenic mice, C. elegans or D. melanogaster mutants, will be favorably considered. Please submit a curriculum vitae, a statement of research interests, and the names of two referees to: Dr. Luca Tamagnone
Selected applicants, eligible for long term fellowships, will be contacted for a short interview. |
